April 2016 WATERLINE

Greetings Fellow WWWA Members,

I hope everyone is having a great year so far. I want to extend my appreciation for your attendance to the annual convention and/or input to the association. The board has met for the first time this year at our quarterly board meeting on the March 23, 2016. We have been reviewing convention evaluations and will begin planning for next year’s event soon. We are also looking to put on some additional educational opportunities this spring and fall. Please feel free to notify a board member if you know of any opportunities happening in your area that could potentially benefit all members. Our spring class is listed below!

Due to difficult weather conditions, the licensing board meeting was initially rescheduled. We then met April 14, 2016. This meeting went well and had great attendance from several fellow WWWA members. We were successful in providing the licensing board with valuable feedback from various areas of the state. Also feedback on proposed changes affecting well drillers and pump installers was given.

In order to keep all members informed of changes from the licensing board, here are a few pieces of information you should be aware of: 1. The Licensing Board is looking at a statute change which will allow implementation of some different forms of discipline instead of only being able to revoke or suspend licenses. This proposed plan will give them the ability to impose probationary periods, fines and other means of disciplinary action. This was tabled for now, but is something they are considering. This will be presented to legislation if they choose to proceed with this statute change.

2. The Licensing Board is looking into a training class on minimum construction standards that would be required for licensing renewal. They are researching potential training centers and costs. They have yet to determine the length of time on the class. This idea is in hopes that all licensed members can stay up to date on all changes and clear up confusion on current minimum construction standards and rules.

3. SEO is in the process of making some changes. Drillers and pump installers will be required to fill out and submit UW-6 forms.

4. The Licensing board has approved to start accepting applications for a 3rd inspector.

5. Social security numbers will be removed and no longer required in the licensing process.

We have heard from many of you regarding the notice of intent rule. The licensing board has reached out to the WWWA for suggestions to help improve inspection processes. I have provided the licensing board with a list of questions I have complied from members and from survey results. We covered the questions at the board meeting and they are providing responses to the questions. We will get results out to members shortly. If you have any ideas to make the inspection process work best, please submit your ideas or suggestions to a board member or to myself and I will pass this information on. Your suggestions are very important and helpful in improving these types of issues. Thank you once again for your time and commitment. Have a wonderful spring.

Best regards, Travis Hueller WWWA President
